With Christmas coming I thought I would do a post of some things the foodie in your life will love.
There is so much choice it can be a minefield but these ideas below are all things I have used and can recommend. Some of them have changed my life!

First of all is my all time favourite cookery book 'Larousse Gastronomique'. This is a book I constantly refer to, if you want to know anything about food this is the book for you. If you are buying for someone who loves food and they don't have this I promise you they will be forever grateful, it really is an amazing book. When I bought this book it was £60, you can now get it from Amazon for £12.50 New Concise Larousse Gastronomique: The World's Greatest Cookery Encyclopedia

Next is a Cast Iron Casserole Dish. This is a must for anyone who cooks, great for cooking on the hob, in the oven or a mix of the two. These pans are good as they are good heat conductors giving an even heat throughout the pan and they retain the heat well. Get yours here Cast Iron Round Casserole

A Silicone Spatula may not be the most inspiring present for someone but believe me, they really ARE life changing. Not only does it protect your pans from scratching but there is nothing better for getting everything out of your pan. Unlike a wooden or metal spoons a spatula will take the shape of your pan or bowl so you can get into the edges so nothing catches when you cook. Have I convinced you it's a good stocking filler? Le Creuset Silicone Medium Spatula

I got my Magimix a few years ago now and couldn't live without it. A bit more pricey than the others but it is an amazing machine. There are a number of attachments for it so you can blend, slice and grate in a number of sizes and cut chips through it. The motor is very powerful and the blades are made by Sabatier and are very sharp. Get your here Magimix 3200 Food Processor

I really can't stress how important a good knife is when cooking. Sharp knives not only get things done quicker and cleaner but you are much less likely to cut yourself on a sharp knife than a blunt one. Victorinox is a good, inexpensive brand and this knife will be a good start or addition to anyone's collection. Victorinox - Chefs Knife Broad Blade
and to keep it sharp try this Diamond Sharpening Steel
I could go on forever about kitchen equipment and gadgets but I think this will get you going. If you are buying stuff and want advice or recommendations then leave a comment or post onto my ~Facebook page and I will get back to you.
